New Year's Eve in Peuerbach: 2,500 hours of voluntary work for success
The New Year's Eve run in Peuerbach is one of the most important running sports events in Austria, and every year it attracts numerous spectators and participants. This year, the event will be made possible by the valuable support of 120 volunteers, who actively contribute to success with over 2,500 working hours. These committed helpers not only decorate the event with their commitment, they are also crucial for the smooth implementation.
The preparations are already in full swing, with volunteers in advertising in 35 different communities. This means that you hang up posters in schools, kindergartens and shops and set up advertising boards in lively areas of the communities. Shortly before the New Year's Eve itself, the intensive phase of helper work begins, which includes the transport and care of international athletes. Flexibility and quick decisions are often required, especially when it comes to travel planning due to disorders in air traffic.
The tasks of the helpers in detail
The volunteers take care of a variety of tasks. Starter packages for the athletes are prepared and output in the competition office. At the same time, the registration data is checked, late registrations are accepted and trophies for the winners are organized. The award ceremonies and the raffle for non -cash prizes are also on the task list. Another essential element is the athlete catering, which is provided in the target area. The help of the helpers extends to the coordination of the running competitions and the organization of medals for the finishers.
The technical planning of the live stream is also one of the special challenges, which enables all spectators to remain informed about the racing process. Live images and results are used to have video launches in the area and support the exciting atmosphere of the event. Marion Gierlinger from the Sportunion Igla Long Life emphasizes that the age of the helpers varies greatly - from 12 to almost 80 years everyone is there. Many take a targeted vacation to meet their passion for sport and help with the event.
An exciting program is waiting
The New Year's Eve run begins at 11.30 a.m., and a total of nine running competitions are planned, for which around 1,200 participants are expected. The award ceremonies take place immediately after the respective races, so that the tension is preserved during the entire event. For the spectators, a live stream is set up from 11.30 a.m. to 4 p.m., which transfers all competitions and decisions in real time. The highlights are of course the top races of men and women who will be shown live on ORF Sport+ on December 31 from 2:15 p.m. to 3:35 p.m.
The New Year's Eve run in Peuerbach is therefore not only a sporting highlight, but also a festival of the community, in which the commitment of the volunteers is fully recognized. Without support, such an event could not be put together. If someone is looking for more information or registration options, they can be found on the official website silvesterlauf
