Drama on the ski slope: 50-year-old fights for life after serious accident!

A dramatic skiing accident occurred on February 8, 2025, around 10:45 a.m., on the popular piste 3 of the Reiteralm in the Liezen district. A 50-year-old man from the Freistadt district came off the slope for reasons that are still unclear and jumped more than 20 meters onto a lift path. There he collided with a 17-year-old skier from the Schärding district who was on her way to the drag lift Small newspaper reported.

The collision caused both skiers to slide approximately 70 meters down the snow-covered lift route. The 17-year-old suffered minor injuries to her nose and was released home after outpatient treatment at DKH Schladming. However, the accident had serious consequences for the 50-year-old: he suffered life-threatening injuries and had to be resuscitated on site. He was then flown to the UKH Salzburg in a rescue helicopter, as were they ARF reports. Both people involved were wearing helmets at the time of the incident, which is at least a positive aspect.
