70 years of Gymnasium Braunau: Kotanko about Kreisky and his time

As part of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the high school in Braunau, journalist Christoph Kotanko presented his experiences and insights from his book "Kult Chancellor Kreisky". The event took place on November 12th and 13th and attracted an interested audience. Kotanko, who is known not only as a journalist, but also as an author, managed to both inform and entertain the listeners.

The reading not only offered a deep insight into the life and work of Bruno Kreisky, one of the most famous Austrian politicians, but also conveyed the political and social circumstances of that time. Kreisky, who was Chancellor from 1970 to 1983, is considered the central figure in the Austrian politics of the 20th century.

lecture and discussion round

Kotanko took those present on a journey through the political success and challenges with which Kreisky was faced. He explained how Kreisky's approaches laid the basis for many of the political structures in Austria today. The discussion about Kreisky's vision of social reforms and its criticism of existing systems was particularly careful.

Another highlight of the event was the discussion round, in which the audience could ask questions. Kotanko answered many of them with passion and competence, which significantly strengthened the connection between him and the audience. The participants were visibly enthusiastic about the opportunity to interact directly with an expert in this area.

In addition to the personal experiences and anecdotes from Kreisky, Kotanko also offered a look at the contemporary relevance of the political decisions at that time and their effects on today's society. This review on the occasion of the anniversary was a valuable contribution to the historical discussion and to understand the political landscape of Austria.
