Including art projects in Lower Austria: Mellowyellow delights children

The including art project “Mellowyellow” has not limited itself to Vienna since the last school year, but is now also spreading in Lower Austria. With the committed support of school quality managers Sonja Schärf-Tangl, the project is now being carried out in seven elementary schools and a middle school in Wiener Neustadt as well as in two other elementary schools in the district.

The campaign days, which have already reached over 570 students in the school year 2023/24, offer a varied program. These days include a mixture of performances, discussions and workshops, followed by a joint lunch. At these meetings, professional artists perform both with and without disabilities and introduce the children to the topic of inclusion in an attractive and interactive way.

"Inclusion is an important topic and should already be taught in youth. 'Mellowyellow’ promotes awareness of people with impairments, "says Mayor Klaus Schneeberger.

The mixed-Abled team ensures a relaxed handling between the students, which contributes to reducing prejudices and creating a positive group experience. This is done without any additional costs for the schools, since the project is dependent on funding from the state and the federal government.
