The planned changes include the introduction of new, barrier -free trains, additional night connections and an intensive clock compression that will support commuters and students in particular.

The regional manager of ÖBB, Christof Hermann, explained that these measures aim to optimize the mobility offer in the region and to make them more comfortable. The aim is to increase the quality of life for all passengers, especially for people with limited mobility.

important changes from December

  • The regional trains in the central area are equipped with modern, barrier -free diesel drivers. These new trains offer a number of amenities, including WLAN, air conditioning and a contemporary passenger information system.
  • A new early connection of the R44 line will be introduced on the Franz-Josefsbahn from September 2024. This leads from Fels am Wagram via Hadersdorf am Kamp and Krems to St. Pölten Hbf. In the future, important student stops will also be served. On school days there is also another Rex 4 between Krems and Fels.
  • The introduction of new trains on the Marchegger Ostbahn reduces the travel time between Vienna and Marchegg by six minutes. From 2025 there should be a continuous connection to Bratislava, which will reduce the travel time to the Slovak capital to only 56 minutes.
  • The half -hourly cycle on the Mariazellerbahn will also be extended to the afternoon from December, which will be an advantage for commuters and leisure guests.

Traffic Councilor Udo Landbauer (FPÖ) emphasized the need for a reliable service provision. Commuters need planning security, while students should get to their schools on time. In this context, Alexander Schierhuber, Managing Director of the Vor, agreed and noted that these measures will contribute to resource -saving mobility and facilitate daily traffic.

In addition, the NÖVOG, which has been responsible for regional transport since September 2024, has announced that it would implement further improvements next year. Managing Director Wolfgang Schroll said that through unbureaucratic measures in close cooperation with the ÖBB, a further increase in the quality of the quality in public transport is sought.
