Tullnerfeld train station: reopening with new technology and comfort
The Tullnerfeld train station, an important hub in the Austrian rail network, is currently experiencing a careful revival. After extensive repairs and the implementation of provisional solutions, the urgently needed infrastructure measures are in full swing.
Thanks to a newly established replacement power supply, the technical facilities of the station, including customer information, lighting, monitors and speakers, are ready for use. From November 4, the platforms will also be accessible and can be reached via user -friendly stairs and lifts.
important measures
A central concern was the commissioning of a temporary heating. This ensures that the underfloor heating dries the premises in the train station and at the same time offers a pleasant indoor climate for travelers. While the basic work is continued, some shops are still closed, even if the station technology is already largely working.
The dimensions of this reconstruction are impressive: around 125 kilometers of tracks and 67 soft, many of which had to be freed from water and mud on the route. Some switch drives are so badly damaged that they have to be completely replaced. Despite the time pressure, security comes first.
The availability of spare parts is an additional challenge. Many parts had to be delivered from other federal states, and temporary solutions were found for some of the destroyed systems. The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) have explained in a press release that all planned milestones have so far been reached. The reopening of the Tullnerfeld train station is particularly important for ÖBB.
In addition, the regional train R40 between Vienna Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof and St. Andrä-Wördern will run again from November 11th. From November 18, the S50 will drive between Unter-Purkersdorf and Wiener Westbahnhof in half an hour.
The ongoing work at Tullnerfeld station and the restoration of accessible traffic are an important step for the region and express the commitment of the ÖBB to ensure safe and comfortable travel options. For more information on this topic, See the report on www.meinbezirk.at .
