After the destructive flood disaster in St. Pölten, the municipal disaster rod is still active more than two weeks ago. The city administration emphasizes that the effects of the catastrophe have not yet been survived, and numerous assistance operations are still necessary.

A central measure is the formation of damage commissions that are currently in use to document the damage caused. Shortly after the storm, training courses were carried out, followed by the admission of the missions. There are between three and six commissions every day, with each team consisting of at least two political representatives, an expert and a protocol leader. A representative of the Chamber of Commerce is also involved in companies.

variance of the damage assessment

A typical damage assessment takes between 30 and 60 minutes, but the journey and other logistical challenges are also part of the process. Overall, the recording of the almost 2000 damage reported could take several weeks, since each review must be carefully and not hastily.

The mayor Harald Ludwig (SPÖ) took over the management of the damage commissions. He reports that the flood in St. Pölten has caused damage that corresponds to the level of a 300-year flood. As a result, both private and business assets are massively affected, and the public infrastructure has also suffered in many areas.

To support those affected as best as possible, work on the weekends at the weekend. Vice Mayor Matthias Adl (ÖVP) underlines the importance of these missions and indicates that those affected should report to the municipality. It is sufficient if the Commission takes photos in its assessment. In addition, it is still possible to assert insurance claims and to remove flood lock waste.

For a complete claim protocol, it is emphasized that photos and documents for damaged objects are of great benefit. Both mayors emphasize that people's feedback are positive and that the work of the commissions is very much appreciated. According to ADL, the goal of the commissions is to reduce the suffering of those affected, and it is not in the foreground when the support will be done, but that it will happen at all.
