New location for addiction prevention and sex education in St. Pölten

In St. Pölten, the Lower Austria specialist center for addiction prevention and sex education has changed its location after more than two decades. The new address on Linzer Straße offers a modern working environment that enables around 20 employees to work closely together. Managing director Ursula Hörhan was recently on site and showed visitors the new premises. This move aims to improve collaboration between the two departments, particularly in relation to joint projects and seminars.

The State Councilor for Social Affairs and Education, Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister (ÖVP), expressed herself positively about the long collaboration with the department. “We know who to ask,” said the state councilor and announced her anticipation of the upcoming general meeting in the new offices.

Innovative approaches to promoting mental health

An important highlight of the department is the latest project “Booster Box”, which was presented on Mental Health Day, October 10th, by Sandra Ziegelwanger-Bravo Galarce, head of the sex education department. The target group is educators who can set up a special box in their classrooms. This box contains various teaching materials that aim to strengthen the resilience of students. Ziegelwanger-Bravo Galarce reported that demand was already so high that the boxes were quickly sold out, underscoring the importance of mental health in schools.

The Lower Austria Department of Addiction Prevention and Sexuality Education has also established itself as a valuable resource for schools. The speakers offer expert knowledge in the form of workshops and provide teachers with a variety of materials for teaching. Additional information about the offers can be found directly on the department’s website.
