New encounter zone in St. Pölten: Linzer Straße is being traffic -calmed

Linzer Straße in St. Pölten has experienced a significant redesign. From the Linz Tor, the Prandtauerstrasse and Heßstraße are now shown as an encounter zone in which a speed limit of 20 km/h applies. This adaptation aims to make traffic in this area more secure and accessible.

So far, Linzer Straße was part of a temporary pedestrian zone during the so -called "Tangente St. Pölten" from the intersection with Schneckgasse. With the new regulation, all road users, whether pedestrians, cyclists or drivers, can use the road on an equal footing. Cyclists can also drive against the direction of the one -way, which offers more flexibility in traffic use.

improved accessibility for all

A special focus was on the restoration of charging zones and disabled -friendly parking spaces. These have not only been restored, but also expanded. The existing parking spaces for single -track vehicles in Heßstrasse also remain. Vehicles are allowed to stop in marked places in the entire Linzer Straße from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Outside of these times, parking is possible without restrictions.

Mayor Matthias Stadler (SPÖ) expresses his conviction that the new regulations will have positive effects on traffic. He emphasizes that the city center is now better accessible, which is particularly important for the shops on Linzer Strasse. These measures made a traffic calming that makes the area more attractive for all users. For example, four new disabled parking spaces have been set up in the Grenzengasse.

In addition, other parking spaces were reactivated in Linzer Strasse, while new places with time restrictions have been added to the Roßmarkt. A total of twelve parking spaces are now available for impaired drivers, including two in front of the Prandtaukirche and several near the museum entrance. This not only improves the mobility of people with disabilities, but also contributes to the general quality of stay in the city center.

The decision to set up this encounter zone clearly shows the will of the city administration to improve the infrastructure for all road users. These measures that promote the diversity of use are not only important for the residents, but also for everyone who frequent the area of Linzer Strasse.
