Access to the soul forest: Sturm strikes planned opening

The path to the natural cemetery "Seelenwald" on the Petersberg is currently a challenge for hikers and visitors. The storm that swept a month ago over the Neunkirchen district has uprooted numerous trees and blocked the path. Before you reach the last resting places in the Seelenwald, detours and daring obstacles are announced. A sign indicates the forest path, but the condition of the path is anything but inviting.

on Instagram, the soul forest is advertised as a place of calm and connectedness with nature. As early as summer 2024, it is planned to offer urn burials here. However, despite the promising advertising, the Seelenwald is not yet in operation on October 29, 2023, according to the municipality of Neunkirchen. This is mainly due to the massive storm damage that delay the company indefinitely.

The damage is significant: according to reports, many trees have been uprooted, and the large part of the forest has a devastated effect. A walker aptly noticed: "If there are many, there is still about half of the trees." This raises justified questions about security for future visitors. The concerns about falling branches and fallen trees are not unfounded, especially when you consider that there could be other storms.

Currently it remains to be seen how quickly the municipality of Neunkirchen can examine and remedy the damage. Some visitors to the Petersberg wonder how responsibilities are regulated if dangers from falling branches should continue to assume. The uncertainty about the safety of the path could deter potential visitors and thus endanger the planned operation of the soul forest.
