Traffic disruptions on the A620: Rosseltalbrücke before winter break

This weekend, drivers on the A620 near Völklingen have to expect considerable traffic impairments, especially on the Rosseltal Bridge. The disabilities are related to construction work that has been taking place for some time and are now in a new phase.

In the early morning hours, the motorway towards Saarbrücken was closed between the Wehrden and Völklingen junctions. For the travelers, this means that they will probably have to expect restrictions until 6 a.m., since the road towards Luxembourg will also be blocked at around 8:00 p.m.

break for the renovation work

The current renovation work on the Rosseltal Bridge was temporarily interrupted in view of the upcoming winter weather conditions. The reason for this decision is that the vehicles of the winter service, which are responsible for sprinkling salt and the space of snow, are too wide for the currently single -track lane.

The work should be resumed in the coming spring if the temperatures rise and the driving conditions are more stable. These renovation measures on the bridge are scheduled until the end of 2026 and could continue to lead to restrictions if they are continued.

However, there is a ray of hope for drivers: After the weekend, all lanes on the Rosseltal Bridge should be released again, and the Geislautern driveway towards Saarbrücken will also be reopened.

Further information on this was also provided by SR Info Rundschau on November 23, 2024.

For drivers, it is advisable to find out more about the current developments on the A620 and to consider alternative routes to avoid traffic jams. These disabilities are part of a more comprehensive plan to improve the infrastructure in Saarland, even if this temporarily brings inconvenience.
