Over 200 Ternitz citizens: Switching to the yellow sack causes discussion
In the town hall of Ternitz, an information event was recently held, which dealt with the transition from the "Green Ton" to the "yellow sack". Over 200 citizens gathered to find out about the upcoming changes in waste disposal. The need for information was great, since the “green bin” will no longer be available from January 2025. Instead, the system of the "yellow sack" is introduced, which raises many questions.
City chief Christian Samwald and City Councilor Gerhard Windbichler (both SPÖ) were part of the podium, together with representatives of the waste management association and the waste disposal company FCC. During the discussion, it was clearly expressed that many of them would have liked to maintain the existing system of the "green ton". Unfortunately, legal requirements of the Ministry have accommodated this project that provides a changeover to the "yellow sack" for the entire country of Austria.
challenges of waste disposal
The new regulations have been clearly communicated, but they are against the will of many citizens. The legal basis for the changeover was developed, so that several municipalities in the district organize information evenings in order to inform citizens about the upcoming changes. These serve not only to clarify, but also to promote the dialogue among the citizens to clear out uncertainties.
Another topic was the pricing for waste disposal. As City Councilor Windbichler explained, the costs remain unchanged at first. There is still no concrete data available for recalculation, which only makes it necessary to evaluate the system after the new regulations are completely introduced.
Christian Samwald thanked those present for their lively participation. He emphasized how important it is to continue to inform the citizens comprehensively and to actively involve the conversion process. A well -functioning disposal system is not only advantageous for the environment, but can also contribute to reducing costs through correct use.
Overall, the introduction of the "yellow sack" is an important step in the district's waste management. With the correct clarification and participation of the population, this change could be done smoothly. More information about the new regulations and events in the region are at www.noen.at find.
