Loss of over 10,000 euros: Knockout drop robbery in the Neunkirchen district solved

A serious robbery offense occurred in the Neunkirchen district in which a 49-year-old man fell victim to knockout drops. The incident happened on the night of November 26th to 27th, 2024, when the man ordered a prostitute to his home via an internet platform. As the evening progressed, one of the woman's companions joined them and while they were consuming alcoholic drinks together, the unimaginable happened.

It is believed that the prostitute or her companion secretly added a narcotic substance to the 49-year-old's drink, which caused him to lose consciousness. The next morning he woke up in a disoriented state and discovered that not only his ATM card was missing, but also cash. In addition, over 10,000 euros were withdrawn or transferred from his account without authorization.

Investigations and arrests

The investigation was led by the Lower Austria State Criminal Police Office, Robbery Division. Through basic and comprehensive criminal investigation measures, the officers were able to identify both a 47-year-old Austrian citizen and a 22-year-old Romanian citizen as suspects. Arrest and search orders were then obtained from the Wiener Neustadt public prosecutor's office in Neunkirchen on November 28, 2024.

When searching the suspects' apartments, the investigators not only found evidence, but were also able to seize some of the stolen money. The 49-year-old received part of his money back. Despite the evidence, the suspects did not confess during their interviews. Due to the seriousness of the allegations, they were transferred to the Wiener Neustadt prison.

This incident highlights the recurring risks associated with the consumption of social services, particularly in relation to alcohol consumption and the recruitment of companions online. The investigation is ongoing and it remains to be seen whether further action will be taken against the suspects.
