Visual examination required: fog accident on Landstrasse 465 with tractor
On Monday at 12:32 p.m., a traffic accident occurred on Landstrasse 465 between Zweibrücken and the Mörsbach district, which was caused by extremely poor visibility due to strong fog. While several vehicles drove the route, a tractor came from the direction of Mörsbach. In the wake of the tractor, another driver tried to overtake the slow agricultural machine. This overtaking process worked, but the traveler did not recognize the two cars that came to him due to the poor view.
In order to avoid a frontal collision, the first oncoming vehicle braked abruptly. This meant that the second oncoming car opened behind the first. The property damage incurred is around 10,000 euros. The driver, who had initiated the dangerous overtaking process, then left the scene of the accident, which caused the police to search for him. Nevertheless, there were enough indications that ultimately led to the identification of the driver.
security instructions from the police
The police commented on the incident and emphasized that there was no injuries only by pure coincidence. "The situation could have ended much worse," warned a spokesman. The incident illustrates how important it is to adapt your own driving style to the prevailing visual conditions, especially in the dark season. In particular, it is advised to refrain from risky overtaking maneuvers.
