New S-Bahn stop Forchheim Nord from December 15, 2024: Advantages for pupils and residents

From December 15, 2024, a new S-Bahn stop in Forchheim Nord will be put into operation for the S1. This is an important step that significantly improves the accessibility of schools in the north of Forchheim, including the real, professional, pestalozzi and Adalbert-Stifter school.

The introduction of this stop brings with it some changes in bus traffic. Students who drive to one of the four schools have to adapt to adapted timetables for lines 224 and 265. The Forchheim Realschule stop is no longer served on several trips. For example, the journey of bus line 224, which normally drives from Ermreus to junior high school at 7:02 a.m., ends at the Bamberger Straße stop. The travel times that started at 7:02 a.m. are now five minutes later. This is intended to ensure that the students can switch to the S-Bahn in good time.

Details on the timetable changes

For students who normally drive from Neunkirchen to junior high school at 7:02 a.m., there are also adjustments. Here the departure time was brought forward to 6:55 a.m., so that the buses stop at Kersbach Bahnhof beforehand. In addition, the stop at the junior high school is no longer necessary. The commuters have to switch to the S-Bahn and reach for Forchheim North, where they arrive at 7:30 a.m.

At noon, the students also have to reschedule: the trip from the secondary school to Effeltrich, which was to start at 12:25 p.m., is no longer necessary. Instead, the bus ride starts at 12:28 p.m. at the Katharinenpital, and the students use the S-Bahn to drive from Forchheim North to ZOB at 12:24 p.m. Here you have to change to get to Effeltrich by bus 224.

The changes also affect afternoon trips. At 1:20 p.m. there is no longer a departure at the Realschule for trips to Ermreus or Dormitz. These now start at the Katharinenpital or at the ZOB. It is recommended to keep an eye on the new changeover times, especially for the students who drive home after school.

Bus line 265, however, have no changes in the morning school days so that students can use their usual timetable on this line. The new S-Bahn stop will thus help to optimize local public transport in Forchheim, even if it can initially make changes in the bus connections.
