Save energy in Saarland: modern street lighting for municipalities
An important initiative to modernize street lighting in Saarland is imminent. The state government plans to support the municipalities in conversion to energy -efficient lighting technology, which could bring about a significant saving of energy. It is estimated that the cities and municipalities could save between 30 and 60 percent of the current energy costs.
The Saarland Energy Minister Jürgen Barke (SPD) emphasized the advantages of this initiative. "The municipalities will not only significantly reduce their energy costs, but also reduce their CO2 emissions, which has a positive effect on the climate and the environment," said Barke. This conversion includes in particular the introduction of insect-friendly LED technology. Older lighting systems in particular are often no longer compatible with available lamps and therefore require a change.
applications already possible
The new program for promoting the conversion will be realized via the ZEP future energy program. At the moment, the program is still in the final negotiations with the European Union. Nevertheless, the municipalities already have the option of applying for early starting measures. This means that the cities and municipalities do not have to wait for the final approval and can start planning and implementation immediately.
This development affects many municipalities that want to modernize their street lighting in the coming months. For more information about the details of this funding measure, should be interested in the article Visit www.tagesschau.de .
