Bipa leaves the main place passage after 35 years of Neunkirchner!

Hauptplatzpassage, 2620 Neunkirchen, Österreich - A dramatic farewell is imminent: after 35 years, the BIPA branch leaves the main place passage in Neunkirchen. The rumors had already become loud, and now it is official-the Rewe group confirms the closure of both the BIPA branch in the main place passage and the Billa branch in Raiffeisenstrasse. The last chapter for the traditional passage begins on November 23, when the BIPA branch, which has been based there since the opening in 1990, closes its doors forever.

"Bipa has been with us for 35 years and is the last of the remaining original tenants. We are very sorry," says passage spokesman Wolfgang Kessler. The closure is not only a loss for the passage, but also a sign of the changes in retail. There is still no subsequent tenant for the BIPA branch, and Kessler is skeptical: "Because of the structural conditions, it will be difficult." There is little light and windows that could deter potential subsequent tenants. But not everything is cloudy: the shoe retailer Fussl plans to adapt and expand his business, which represents a ray of hope in this dark situation.

The loss for Neunkirchen

The farewell to Bipa and Billa is a tunal blow for downtown Neunkirch. The closures are related to a new opening on the B 17, which will continue to change the retail landscape in the region. While the city is adjusting to the changes, it remains to be seen how the range of other shops will develop. The concerns about the future of the passage and the effects on customers are tangible, and the question remains: Who will fill the gaps that leave these traditional shops?
