New location for Mistelbach's Bolfras barracks: departure into modernity!

Mistelbach, Österreich - A new location for the expansion of the Bolfras barracks in Mistelbach is certain! The location on the B40, in the immediate vicinity of the highway, was selected due to its excellent transport connection. This was confirmed by Mayor Erich Stubenvoll (ÖVP), who found that the areas are ideal because they connect to the military armored road. Previous concerns, for example with regard to possible noise pollution or nature conservation requirements, seem to be invalidated because the new barracks will be outside of populated areas. According to Stubenvoll, a rapid approval is also expected, since it is an agricultural area and no corresponding ecological problems can be expected, as was the case at the previous location that was on a former ammunition camp.

new building with space for 600 soldiers

The old barracks, which is now almost 90 years old, urgently needs a new building. The old location no longer seems up to date and a renovation would be more expensive than a complete new building. The cost of the new project amounts to around 150 million euros, with the new building to offer space for around 600 soldiers. "Mistelbach and the Bolfraskaserne, that belongs together," continued the mayor, while the chief of staff Rudolf Striedinger also gives his approval. The decision for the new location is a crucial step to modernize the Federal Army in the region, according to the votes of those responsible.
