Police in Lower Austria holds British fraudsters on the A1

On November 15, the Lower Austria police arrested a couple from the United Kingdom on the A1 motorway after discovering a suspicious vehicle, a gray limousine with a British license plate during a routine check. The control took place at the Raststation Ybbs at 2:50 p.m., and the officials, especially from the St. Pölten Foreign and Border Police Inspection, quickly suspected that the occupants could be involved in several fraud.

The police investigation showed that the 29-year-old couple committed at least six fraud in the period between September 1 and November 14, 2024. These fraud seem to be far -reaching, with signs that they have operated on in different parts of Lower Austria and also throughout Austria.

The stitch of the fraudsters

The perpetrators lured their victims with the claim of a financial emergency and captured cash amounts that were between 500 and 1,500 euros. In total, they swindled more than 6,100 euros, while alleged repayments never took place. This shows how refined fraudsters can deceive a variety of people themselves with simple stories.

The man was transferred to the Vienna Joship of Vienna in accordance with an order from the Vienna public prosecutor's office. In the meantime, the 29-year-old wife has been reported at large. The police continue to investigate to uncover any further fraud and also search for other victims. Affected persons are asked to report to the St. Pölten-FGP police inspection on 059133-30-4906.

The couple arresting throws a light on an increasing form of tricksters, which unfortunately are becoming increasingly common. The police call up the citizens for caution and recommend that in case of doubt to always be suspicious if someone suggests financial support, especially under the pretext of an emergency
