Renewable energy cooperative Lilienfeld: Your chance of cheap electricity

A new era of energy supply is heralded in Lilienfeld. At the municipal office, the Lilienfeld renewable energy cooperative recently founded the renewable energy cooperative, which from 2025 should give citizens the opportunity to obtain inexpensive green electricity from the region.

Mayor Manuel Aichberger and Abbot Pius Maurer emphasize the long -term and close connection between the city and Abbey Lilienfeld. Her cooperation revolves around the preservation of cultural heritage and the active participation of a sustainable future. The energy community aims to locate the energy supply and at the same time to keep prices stable for the population.

opportunities for rural regions

The concept of energy community offers an attractive option for rural areas by combining a secure power supply and financial advantages. In this way, municipal institutions such as schools and municipal offices could benefit from the local electricity. In addition, citizen participation models create new perspectives for investments in renewable energies, which can also strengthen the identity of the region.

"Due to the collaboration of local actors, such as photovoltaic systems and small hydropower plants, the electricity generated is distributed among the members. For example, everyone involved benefits from the regional green electricity," explains Thomas Gravogl, Energy City Councilor of Lilienfeld.

The cooperative pursues clear goals: a sustainable economy that benefits the members. The focus is on stable prices and a growing range of renewable energy. After the energy exchange between the pen and the municipality starts, an expansion is targeted for the entire population.

"The existing energy community will continue to exist, but the newly founded energy cooperative will enable citizens to participate directly in the electricity reference," offers Mayor Aichberger clear perspectives.

The foundation of the cooperative was realized with the help of experts from the planning office IM-Plan-Tat and the Raiffeisen-Revision Association Lower Austria. Abbot Maurer emphasizes that this initiative is a significant common step between the city and the pen to improve the quality of life of the citizens. A first information offer for the population is already planned for mid -January 2025 to inform about the possibilities of the energy cooperative.

The newly founded energy cooperative is directed by a committed board team, which includes Manuel Aichberger as chairman, Abbot Pius Maurer as chairman of the chairman as well as the city councilor Thomas Gravogl and business director Michael Renz. The operational management will take over Christian Anzberger.

The initiatives for the renewable energy cooperative in Lilienfeld clearly show that the path is actively followed into a sustainable and locally anchored energy future. Further information on the project and its development can be found here
