Life-threatening transport of dangerous goods: trucks with serious defects stopped!

The security authorities in Lower Austria uncovered a dangerous incident on the A1 motorway on Thursday. Officials from the state transport department carried out a special operation at the Völlerndorf rest stop, where they stopped a semi-trailer vehicle that had serious safety deficiencies. The truck with a Croatian license plate, driven by a Bosnian citizen, transported several tons of dangerous goods of classes 3 (flammable liquid substances) and 8 (corrosive substances) - and all without the necessary markings or safety precautions, as the state police headquarters reported.

The inspection not only revealed serious violations of driving and rest times, but also technical deficiencies, speeding and the lack of the necessary safety equipment. The driver also did not have the necessary ADR driving license, which is required for the transport of dangerous goods. Due to the defects identified, the vehicle was prohibited from continuing to drive. The officials charged a provisional security deposit in the five-digit amount, and a total of 47 violations were reported to the district administration, according to information from the Lower Austria police.

The campaign clearly shows how important it is to comply with safety regulations when transporting dangerous goods. If these defects had not been noticed, the dangerous cargo could have led to serious accidents and environmental hazards. Such controls are crucial for safety on the roads, especially when it comes to the transport of potentially dangerous substances, as reported by vienna.at and polizei.gv.at emerges.
