Stein says no: Folk survey for the B3 opening at Rathausplatz completed
In Stein an der Donau, an important decision regarding traffic planning was recently made. The city administration had carried out a referendum as to whether the B3 on Rathausplatz should be opened by a new crossing to the Danube. However, this option was largely rejected by the citizens. With an impressive 70.7 percent, the participants voted against the opening.
of 1,720 citizens and business owners who were called for vote were 906 votes, which corresponds to a turnout of 52.67 percent. This process required that over 30 percent of voters take part in the survey to be valid - a brand that was achieved.
reactions to the voting result
The mayor of Krems on the Danube, Peter Molnar from the SPÖ, was pleased with the clear result of the vote. He emphasized that this vote makes every further discussion about the topic superfluous. Molnar announced that the municipal council of Krems will ask the original decision to open the B3 accordingly. The money that was originally planned for the project could now be invested in other projects.
Despite his pleasant campaign, Molnar regrets the vote because he had seen the opening as a "opportunity to century", which could boost both the local economy and facilitate access to the Danube. This hope has not been fulfilled, but the mayor shows that he respects the clear result. Instead, the SPÖ Krems plans to take further measures to improve the quality of stay and to calm down in Stein.
Günter Herz, the city council responsible for citizen participation, sees this result an order to develop a better traffic solution in the sense of the population of Stein. As a result, the city administration would like to continue to find solutions that focus on the needs of the citizens.
