Strong commitment to a good cause: Mario Ortner masters 500 kilometers run
In the heart of East Tyrol there was an impressive charity event that shows the strength of the human mind and the commitment to a good cause. The talented runner Mario Ortner has covered an incredible route of over 500 kilometers. On Saturday, September 15th, the starting signal for his adventurous journey from Lienz to Krems on the Danube.
Ortner needed a total of eight days to achieve his goal, and managed 78.5 hours of term and almost 20,000 meters of altitude. He started early in the morning at 6:30 a.m. at the Dolomitenbad in Lienz. The first stage brought him to Obervellach, but it was not so easy: unforeseen weather conditions, including the sudden onset of winter and flooding in other parts of Austria, forced him to change his route in six stages at short notice. In the end, he was only able to complete two of the original stages as planned.

However,Ortner was not only on his challenging journey. He received great support from other athletes such as Johannes Unterasinger and Wolfgang Klocker, who were on hand during the adventure. In addition, Klaus Gösweiner joined him on the fourth day, another top athlete who accompanied Ortner in Rottenmann until half -time.
The physical and mental challenges were immense. A particularly formative experience was the fifth stage, in which Ortner had to hike through hip -high snow on one of the most beautiful view summit in the Ennstal, the Dürrenschoberl. Despite a two -hour delay, he managed to take part in a running event in Admont, in which the children of the place also went. He mastered the entire stage after over 13 hours and finally reached Mooslandl.
The way to the finish line
The last days of the tour presented Ortner better weather conditions, which had a motivating effect on his mood. The climb to Palfau and the crossing of the state border to Lower Austria were particularly important. On this part of his route he enjoyed the beauty of the Mendlingtal and the descent to the picturesque Lunzersee.
The final stage led Ortner von Sankt Leonhard am Forst over the beautiful Wachau and the Dunkelsteinerwald to the longed -for destination in Krems on the Danube. With a record time of 500 km, almost 20,000 meters of altitude and an emotional finish, he crossed the imaginary finish line on September 22nd at 3:36 p.m. His arrival was warmly celebrated by his family as well as relatives and friends.
