Medical progress: 11-year-old boy receives new life after tumor surgery!

A remarkable medical progress has given an 11-year-old boy named David the opportunity to go normally and painless. This was possible after it was successfully operated on by a tumor in the thigh bone. After completing his first chemotherapy, the kneedistal part of his thigh bone was removed and replaced by a special growth prosthesis that received the growth joint on the lower leg. This enables a healthy development of his leg, such as the University Clinic Krems reported. Primar Dietmar Dammerer, who headed the operation, expressed his joy over the success of the treatment that could bring back the child's quality of life.

progress in treatment with growth sponsors

The use of growth prosthes has recently become a promising solution for children with tumors. A comprehensive study published in the publication Springer analyzed 21 relevant work on this topic, in which a total of 590 patients with an average age of 12.6 years were viewed. Compliance with a structured treatment approach led to an impressive mean of the functional results of 78.3 of a maximum of 100 points. In addition, the revison and complication rate was 27.3% and 22.4%, which shows that despite some risks, the method has far more advantages than the previous treatment approaches.

In recent years, surgical techniques have made immense progress, especially in the field of prosthesis technology. A future -oriented example is the use of invasively extended growth prostheses that help the affected children to regain a normal quality of life through regenerative medicine. The consideration of genetic and growth -related factors is crucial for the success of the treatment and is constantly being developed by comprehensive studies.
