Machete attack in Krems: Czech threatens poultry group!
A frightening incident occurred in Krems when a 24-year-old Czech citizen attacked a group of rioters with a machete. The attack occurred early Saturday morning when police received an emergency call at 1:10 a.m. and immediately rushed to Krems train station. When they arrived, the perpetrator had already fled, but was arrested shortly afterwards. The man confessed and was taken to a prison, as exxpress.at reports.
The group of nine, consisting of people between the ages of 24 and 36, was threatened by the accused when he pointed the machete at them and gesticulated wildly. Before the attack, there was a verbal argument between the accused and his partner. What is particularly alarming is that the 24-year-old had an official firearms ban, which raises questions about his motivation and the circumstances of the incident.
Found the machete
After the incident, the police were able to find the murder weapon the next day. The machete, with a total length of 51 centimeters, was discovered under a wooden pallet on the train station grounds. This aspect suggests the danger and intensity of the attack, strongly underlined by the threatening situation in which the group found itself.
The incidents of violence and threats are part of an overall increase in violent crime in Austria. According to statistics from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BMI) published on April 14, 2025, Austria experienced an increase in many areas of crime between 2014 and 2024. This includes various types of violent crime as well as foreigner crime, drug-related crime and extremism, as the platform Statista reports.
Such incidents shed light not only on individual behavior, but also on the societal conditions that may contribute to this violence. Authorities are called upon to address the underlying causes and ensure the safety of citizens.
