Krems labor market: positive trends despite increasing unemployment figures

Krems labor market: positive trends despite increasing unemployment figures

The current situation on the job market shows a mixed picture. In the Krems district, unemployment figures at the end of September 2024 arrived at a special level. At the moment, 1,506 people are registered with the AMS Krems, which means an increase of 3.9 % or 57 people compared to the previous year. Despite this increase, the unemployment rate remains well below the Lower Austria average of 5.8 % and the Austrian value of 6.6 %.

Together with the training participants, the number of people affected by the loss of jobs amounts to a total of 1,922. A remarkable aspect is that the district of Krems is mostly better off compared to other regions in Lower Austria.

long -term unemployment in decline

A pleasant trend is evident in combating the long -term unemployment: there are falling figures in Krems. While the long -term unemployment in Lower Austria has increased by an alarming 21 %, the district of Krems has a decline from 1.5 % to 191 long -term unemployed. By the end of September 2024, 49 formerly long -term unemployed have already found a job - this is an increase of 53.1 % compared to the previous year. "Long -term unemployment is not an inevitable fate that we will accept!" Explains the head of the AMS Krems, and underlines that every person should receive a suitable offer - be it a job or qualification.

In addition, a consideration of 2019 shows that the number of long -term unemployed in Krems from 383 could be reduced to almost half. This is a sign of the efficiency of the measures that are taken together in this region.

movement on the job market

September 2024 proves to be particularly dynamic; This month, 414 people lost their job, but thanks to the support of the AMS Krems, 609 people were able to return to employment. In contrast to the rest of Lower Austria, where a decline in the end of unemployment was determined by 0.8 %, Krems was able to improve by 8.2 %.

Although unemployment rises, the demand for workers remains at a high level. At the moment, just below 1,000 vacancies are registered with the AMS. That is about 30 % less than compared to September of the previous year, but availability remains almost twice as high as five years ago.

It remains to be seen how the trends on the job market will develop. A comprehensive discussion about the future development of the labor market for this winter is expected in the near future. www.meinbezirk.at .
