25 years of HTL Krems: anniversary celebration and opening of the open-air class

The Higher Technical School (HTL) Krems celebrated a big anniversary at the beginning of October: 25 years have now passed since the opening of its extension and new building. This impressive building opened its doors on September 29, 1999. The celebration took place in the school itself and numerous guests were invited to experience this special occasion together.

A varied program awaited those present. In addition to musical performances, there was a comprehensive presentation on the history of HTL Krems. The highlight of the celebration was the official inauguration of a new open-air class in the school's inner courtyard. "The HTL Krems has developed into an important educational location over the last 25 years. We look back on successful development and look forward to the challenges of the future," explained State Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister in her ceremonial speech, emphasizing the importance of the educational institution for the region.

New outdoor class in focus

A central highlight of the celebration was the new open-air class, which was launched, inspired by the experiences of the corona pandemic. "The need to create outdoor classroom space became increasingly clear. With the open-air class, the school offers a place of refuge where the students can learn undisturbed and spend their free time," continued Teschl-Hofmeister. This innovative idea was largely planned and implemented by the students and teachers themselves, with the technical support of HTL Krems.

The design and implementation of the open-air class were carried out by architect Markus Seehofer and the HTL building site manager, Schadinger. Funding came from the school as well as generous donations from the business association HTL Connect and the federal student hostel.

Cultural contributions enrich the celebration

Another highlight of the event was the presentation of works of art by former student Willibald Zahrl. He exhibited some of his impressive cuts and artworks, which further enriched the cultural framework of the celebration. The festivities ended with musical performances by the band “Groove Cuvee”, in which even active teachers took part. The federal student hostel ensured the physical well-being of the guests, which underlined the social aspect of the celebration.

This anniversary was not only a celebration of the past 25 years, but also a look into the future of HTL Krems as an innovative educational location. The building and new facilities reflect the school's commitment to providing its students with the best possible educational environment.
