TuS Wickrath: Change of coach and new challenges in the relegation battle

The change of coach at TuS Wickrath attracts attention in the local football group. Dirk Horn, the club's long -time coach, has announced that he will resign from his position as head coach in the coming summer. On the other hand, Gianluca Nurra, a former assistant coach and well-known face in the club, returns immediately.

The team is currently facing difficulties in the district league. After a rather weak season, in which you could only collect 14 points from 14 games, the Wickrather are in the relegation battle. However, the departure of Horn is not just shaped by the sporting situation, as the coach himself emphasizes: "It is simply that I want to get to know the feeling of being able to do something at the weekend," explains the 43-year-old.

horn's resignation and change of training

This Horn project was already determined two weeks ago. But the dynamics among the coaches took up additional speed with the defeat against the 1st FC Mönchengladbach and the resignation of his assistant coach Alexi Triantafillidis. "After the catastrophic game, it had to be traded," explains Horn about the new situation and the associated return of Nurra, who had left the club in the summer.

"I had already agreed that I wanted to get out of Türkiyemspor in winter. In the current situation at TuS it was clear that I wanted to help immediately," Nurra confirms his motivation to support the team. The 26-year-old had previously changed in the league, but the circumstances in the new club meant that he pulled the ripcord at an early stage.

With Nurra on board you can now see the challenge of freeing the Wickrather from its difficult situation. "Of course we have to turn some screws," says the trainer. Nevertheless, he is convinced that the team is able to do more, even if hardly anything has changed at the squad. "We have to try to collect points before the winter break," adds Nurra, while some important games are still standing, including Bayer Dormagen and OSV Meerbusch.

The situation is interesting because Wickrath is currently six points ahead of SpVG Odenkirchen, where former colleagues from Nurra, Simon Sommer and Wolla Brück, are active. If the situation does not improve soon, the relegation battle for the Wickrather could be particularly bitter.

With a view to the coming season, speculation is also speculated about the successor for Horn. Dennis Richter, who is currently funding as a sporting director and wants to end his active career after the season, could be as an assistant coach for Nurra. This shows that the club is looking for alternatives to meet the challenges in the league and give new impulses.
