Winter services in the Bruck district: ready for snow and ice

With the move in winter, the road maintenance department in the Bruck district faces major challenges. Snow, ice and low temperatures place high demands on the infrastructure and the emergency services. However, the preparations are made: for the coming months, the camps are filled with over 3,900 tons of road salt, which corresponds to an amount that could fill 156 saddle tractors. Markus Reisacher, the responsible road master, emphasizes the importance of these precautions to keep road traffic.

"Our warehouse for road salt is optimally filled so that we are well equipped for the next winter days," explains Reisacher. But the work of the road maintenance department is by no means easy. Unexpected change of weather, especially in the morning, can mess up the assignment plans. "It often happens that the temperatures sink near the ground, which presents us with a challenge," he adds. In order to better master these situations, those responsible use modern weather apps, which are provided by the Central Institute for Meteorology (ZAMG).

efficient missions with modern technology

During the winter months, 14 vehicles from the Bruck/Leitha Nonstop road maintenance department are in use to look after more than 320 street kilometers. This is done as part of a two -shift operation that operates almost around the clock. In the case of extreme weather conditions, such as sudden snowfall, additional reserve employees can be convened to support the work. A special focus is also on the important traffic routes such as the access to Schwechat Airport and the Danube Bridge in Hainburg.

Traffic Councilor Udo Landbauer emphasizes that the emergency services are always available. "The employees are active around the clock in snow and ice, and their work ensures that Lower Austria remains mobile even in the cold season," says Landbauer. The combination of experience and modern technology is the key to keeping the streets in a safe condition, while the Region is still on the move in winter.

A comprehensive guarantee of traffic safety during winter is essential. The street master's efforts help to ensure that everyone, whether commuters or travelers, will surely reach their destination. Information on the operations and the current situation is updated regularly to inform the population in good time.
