Farmers' association triumphs in elections: 82% and all mandates secured!

The Lower Austrian Bauernbund achieved a sensational election in the Chamber of Agriculture on March 9, 2025 and received impressive 82 percent of the vote. This secured the farmers' association 32 out of 36 mandates and thus remains the undisputed leader in the Chamber of Agriculture of Lower Austria. Johannes Schmuckenschlager, the top candidate and chamber president, interpreted the result as a strong sign of trust of the voters, emphasizing that the farmers know who they can rely on - not only before, but also after the elections. As ots.at , the turnout with around 47 percent was significantly above the average of other chamber elections.

strong mobilization despite competition

It is particularly worth mentioning that the farmers' association was the only parliamentary group in all 21 district farmers and on the state list. Even under the challenging conditions of the broad political competition, more than 8 out of 10 voters opted for the farmers' association. "This choice was under the motto 'everyone against the Bauernbund' - and yet we achieved a sensational result under the most difficult conditions," added Schmuckenschlager. The competition was strong, since other parties, including Greenpeace, mobilized to compete against the farmers' association, which makes the election results all the more impressive, such as kurier.at emphasized.

With this clear voice relationship and support in the districts, the farmers' association will continue to provide the president of the chamber and all district chamber families. The results show that the farmers 'association remains a reliable partner in challenging times and it is regarded as a strong engine of the People's Party, confirmed Stephan Pernkopf, the state chairman of the farmers' association and deputy governor.
