Ceremony for the opening of the new main square in Amstetten on October 31

On October 31, 2024 there will be a special holiday in Amstetten, because the new main square will be officially opened. At 10 a.m. in the presence of Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner (ÖVP) there is a ceremony that is associated with various celebrations. It is an event that is close to the heart of many Amstettner, after all, since April 2023, it has been built on the new main square.

Mayor Markus Brandstetter (ÖVP) was pleased with the completion of the work that took one and a half years. "A big thank you to everyone involved," emphasized Mayor Christian Haberhauer (ÖVP), who appreciated the good cooperation with residents and entrepreneurs. This phase of the redesign is not only a construction project, but also a merging of the community.

The ceremony on the opening day is musically framed by the Amstetten Stadtkapelle and promises to underline the solemn mood. After the official speeches, the municipality invites you to an opening party that begins with a traditional beer tapping and a morning pint. At 1 p.m. the Schuhplattler from Neustadtl will perform and thereby ensure an additional festive note.

Brandstetter cordially invites all citizens to participate in this celebration: "I look forward to the fact that all Amstettner celebrates the opening together." Another highlight of the opening day is the farmers' market, which is taking place for the first time on the new main square. The municipality plans to regularly move this market to the main square or to Fischlmeyergassl from November 21. This is an important step in the redesign and upgrading of the city center of Amstetten. A new parking guidance system will also be installed by the end of the year, which should offer improved parking space for the citizens. The redesign of Rathausstraße is planned for 2025.
