In Amstetten, there is a significant turn in political culture. In order to reduce the tensions between the parties before the upcoming municipal council election, the ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS agreed on a fairness agreement. Mayor Christian Haberhauer emphasized that fair cooperation was essential to master the challenges of the future. The fairness agreement should promote a respectful and factual election campaign. Vice Mayor Dominic Hörlezeder expressed that his party always made fair politics and that the need for such a contract did not see that this would suggest that it had previously been followed by unfair practices. Similarly, Alexander Schnabel, the FPÖ's chairman, explained that the principles set in the agreement for his party are already everyday life and that one would concentrate on the subject topics.
The agreement is considered a step in the right direction to make the election campaign in Amstetten more peaceful and respectful. Through this initiative, the parties hope to consolidate the trust of citizens in political culture.
