Amstetten and Waidhofen/Ybbs: Together in the mobility of the future
Amstetten and Waidhofen/Ybbs: Together in the mobility of the future
The cities of Amstetten and Waidhofen/Ybbs rely on innovative approaches to improve traffic. Together they start the mobility laboratory "Amwy.mobility", which was launched in cooperation with the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences. This project has a term of five years and is financially supported by the Austrian Research Promotion Society (FFG) and the Ministry of Climate Protection (BMK).
The starting signal for this future -oriented project was found in a joint event in which representatives from both cities officially presented the project. The aim is to develop new traffic solutions that are not only more environmentally friendly, but also more efficient. This could have a potentially major impact on mobility in the region and be a model for other cities in Austria.
The partners of the project
Involved in this initiative are key figures in Local Governance, including Markus Pajones, head of department for the economic and location development of the city of Amstetten, and Vice Mayor Markus Brandstetter. Alexandra Anderluh from the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, traffic city councilor Erich Leonhartsberger and Mayor Werner Krammer from Waidhofen/Ybbs also support the project. The close cooperation between science and administration is intended to ensure that the developed solutions are practical and meet the needs of citizens.
The mobility laboratory will also deal with the implementation and testing of new traffic concepts. This could be about topics such as intermodal transport offers, new mobility services and alternative drive forms. The aim is to create a sustainable transport system that combines environmental protection and economy.
This project is seen as an important step towards a more environmentally friendly traffic strategy in the region. Many cities are now facing the challenge of making traffic efficient and sustainable. Amwy.mobility could give valuable impulses here that could work beyond the borders of Amstetten and Waidhofen/Ybbs.
With the support of the FFG and the BMK, the mobility laboratory will also be academically based. This could lead to new knowledge and technologies not only have local but also nationwide relevance. At the same time, the laboratory plans to actively involve citizens in the development process in order to find solutions based on their needs.
In summary, it can be said that the mobility laboratory "Amwy.mobility" represents an exciting project that opens up new perspectives for traffic design in the region and promotes sustainable approaches in mobility. Details of this project will certainly be more often in the news in the coming years.
