Nextcomic Festival: Experience comics, football and art in Linz!

The Nextcomic Festival, a highlight of the comic scene, takes place in Linz, Steyr and Traun from March 21 to 28. With free admission, visitors can expect 33 exhibitions, including a special show about the LASK legend footballer Helmut Köglberger and a tribute to the draftsman Lily Renée sold by the Nazis. The festival founders Gottfried Gusenbauer and Katharina Eight presented the diverse program at a press conference that includes over 200 artists, including international participation from Germany, Sweden, Italy and Romania, such as krone.at . The traditional highlight of the festival, the "Suuuper Saturday" on March 22nd, enables the audience to look over the shoulder and actively participate in workshops.

multimedia experiences and memory work

The festival goes beyond the printed comic - in the Deep Space of the Ars Electronica Center, visitors can experience interactive digital content that bring comics to life. Particular attention is also paid to the subject of memory and identity, as in the exhibition about Lily Renée, which managed to escape the Nazis after a child transport and became known in the United States. This important narrative and the question of the potential of comics in the Nazi memory work are discussed in the city library in the knowledge storm, added SN.AT . Children can experience the story "Die Kleine Hummel Bommel" in the grotto railway, while the Linz Stifterhaus presents a comic adaptation of "The Cold Heart". The festival not only offers art, but also a platform for social issues and reflection on the past.
