New police inspection in Feldkirchen: Celebration on July 8th!
On July 8, 2025, a new police inspection will be opened in Feldkirchen near Graz. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner, State Police Director Gerald Ortner and State Councilor Stefan Hermann will take part in the ceremony, which will take place at 10:30 a.m. in Schloßgasse 2. Media representatives are invited to this event and can look forward to exciting insights into the new facility.
Following the opening, the solemn retirement of around 70 new official police officers of the Styria State Directorate of Styria will take place on the same day at 12:30 p.m. This ceremony is held in Gratwein-Straßengel at Hauptplatz 1, vis-à-vis of the municipal office. The new police officers, many of whom are already deployed in various departments such as Graz and the foreign and border police, conclude their basic training.
Basics of police training
The new police officers have completed their basic training in the Graz education center of the Security Academy of the Interior Ministry. In a ceremony on April 17, 2023, 78 graduates were trained. Interior Minister Karner, Governor Christopher Drexler and State Police Director Ortner were present and emphasized the relevance of police work in society. Karner encouraged the graduates to be open to changes and to master the challenges of the profession.
The Security Academy (SIAK) plays a central role in the training of the executive staff and was founded in 2003 to bundle various training areas in the Federal Ministry of the Interior. It not only offers practical and high -quality educational events, but also cooperates with European police academies to network and optimize content.
training and quality management
The SIAK ensures quality assurance in training through regular program conferences and specialist circles. Your network comprises a total of twelve education centers in the federal states, with Vienna the largest and Feldkirch-Gisingen being the smallest. The academy teachers have professional educational training and are very qualified to prepare the new police officers for their tasks.
A particularly important part of the training is human rights training A World of Difference®, which has been carried out since 2001 in cooperation with anti-defamation League to combat anti-Semitism and discrimination. By the end of 2013, around 7,500 executive employees have already participated in this training, which underlines the importance of sensitization and education in the police service.
The new police officers in Styria are therefore not only well trained, but also prepared to make a significant contribution to a safe and peaceful coexistence in society. The opening of the police inspection in Feldkirchen and the retirement of the new officials are an important step in the further development of the security architecture in Austria.
