Music and slopes: Schladming celebrates with Bryan Adams and Sting!
On December 6th, Schladming-Dachstein will not only be visited by Santa Claus, but also by music greats such as Bryan Adams, Sting and Simply Red. These top-class concerts are part of the ski opening and promise not only entertainment, but also an economic boom for the region. Georg Bliem, managing director of the Planai-Hochwurzen-Bahnen, expects that between 25,000 and 30,000 guests will flock to the city over these three days. The added value for the federal state is estimated at around 7.9 million euros, while the advertising value of these events could even be around four million euros. How orf.at reports, many visitors also take the opportunity to enjoy the snow, with about 45 to 50 percent staying more than a day.
Increasing board salaries in Germany
There is a notable trend in another economic area: apart from the positive impact on tourism in Austria, board salaries of German DAX companies have also increased. In 2021, board member salaries increased compared to the previous year, showing signs of a turnaround after a decline the previous year. The average compensation of female board members in DAX companies was around 3.45 million euros, which was higher than the salary of their male colleagues at around 3.37 million euros. This could be due to increasing competition for female talent in leadership positions, such as statista.com analyzed.
What is particularly striking is the remuneration of the CEOs, which averaged 5.96 million euros and is therefore significantly higher than other board members. Stephen Angel, CEO of Linde plc, became the highest-paid CEO of a DAX company in the 2021 financial year, with total compensation of approximately €19.43 million. Compared to an average employee, whose annual costs for Linde were approximately 114 times lower, this shows a massive salary difference, averaging 53 for all DAX companies.
