Motorcyclist seriously injured in accident in Bludenz – car not permitted!

On May 1, 2025, at 3:30 p.m., a serious traffic accident occurred on the L188 Montafonerstrasse in Bludenz, near the Alfenzstrasse entrance. A 34-year-old motorcyclist was involved in a collision with a car whose 50-year-old driver was entering the L188 from Alfenzstrasse. According to Fireworld, the motorcyclist accelerated sharply but recognized the incoming car too late.

The collision resulted in the motorcyclist striking the car on the right side of the vehicle. As a result, he fell, crashed into a boundary post and a traffic sign and remained injured on the bike path. The motorcycle was a total loss, while the driver of the car was uninjured.

First aid and medical care

Passers-by immediately provided first aid and alerted the emergency services. After initial treatment by the emergency doctor, the motorcyclist was taken to the LKH Feldkirch and was treated for serious injuries in the left shoulder area.

What is particularly alarming is that the car was not registered for traffic. The driver had improperly installed the license plates on his registered vehicle, which is why he was banned from continuing to drive. A separate complaint was filed against him with the Bludenz district administration.

Statistical relevance and road safety situation

The incident sheds light on the current road safety situation, an aspect that is recorded in the results of the Destatis traffic accident statistics. This data is crucial for legislative measures, traffic education as well as road construction and vehicle technology. Traffic accidents like the one in Bludenz illustrate the need to systematically record the structures of accident events and the dependencies between accident-determining factors.

The statistics take a comprehensive look at the accident situation in order to obtain relevant information about accidents, those involved and vehicles. The aim is to create the basis for an effective transport policy, particularly with regard to infrastructure and road safety. The data collected enables a comprehensive comparison of accident risks and supports the development of preventive measures.
