Lift for Lukas: A wooden lifesaver for a radiant smile!

A big step for eight-year-old Lukas: thanks to the “Lift for Lukas” fundraising campaign, an urgently needed outdoor lift is being installed for the boy, who suffered a stroke at the age of just three. This will make his life much easier as he will now be able to navigate between floors independently. The initiative that... VOL.AT supported shows impressive commitment from the community. Crane driver Thomas from Lauterach, for example, contributed his contribution without any payment and said: “I heard that the boy needed the lift, and I thought I would like to do that.”

Fundraising campaign shows impressive solidarity

The technical implementation of the project is in the hands of Dominik Stramitzer, managing director of LOT-Holzbau. He explains that the structure is made of solid wood and is equipped with fire protection cladding. Weighing around 2.8 tonnes, the lift is expected to be ready for use in a month and a half. Stramitzer is enthusiastic about the wave of solidarity: “It’s great to see how quickly the fundraising campaign has had an impact and how many people are helping,” he emphasizes. We will continue to work hard until it is completed, supported by numerous volunteers in the region.

For Lukas’ mother, Melanie, the lift makes everyday life a lot easier. “Now Lukas can finally move between floors on his own and is no longer dependent on me,” she says with relief. Her son Tobias is also enthusiastic: “I think it’s cool that my brother is getting a lift, and of course I want to go too,” he adds with a grin. The positive atmosphere in the house is palpable and the family is looking forward to the day when the lift finally goes into operation. “Then everything will change – and that’s just wonderful,” Melanie concludes. This initiative is a powerful example of how collaborative efforts can change lives.
