Building AI competence: New training starts in Vienna!
The importance of artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly clear to company managers in Austria. Nevertheless, a current analysis shows that there are still serious skills gaps in the practical application of AI in many companies. Franz-Josef Lackinger, Managing Director of BFI Vienna, emphasizes that many companies lack the necessary knowledge in dealing with AI tools and developing effective AI strategies. That is why a new diploma course “Strategic AI Manager” is being launched to address precisely these deficits. In a modular structure, participants are taught both theoretical basics and practical skills in order to successfully implement AI in companies, as reported in the OTS article.
A central component of the seven-week training is practical relevance. Course participants learn how to perform effective prompting, create custom chatbots, and develop interactive avatars. In addition, the development and implementation of AI strategies in a corporate context are practiced. Lackinger emphasizes that this offer is particularly intended for managers and project managers in order to strategically use the opportunities offered by AI structures. To comply with the EU AI Regulation, which comes into force on February 2, 2025, companies must ensure that their employees have sufficient AI skills. These new requirements are covered by a special short course “AI competency training according to Art. 4 AI Act including proof”, which teaches basic skills in the safe use of AI tools.
New requirements and training offers
The EU AI regulation requires companies to take more responsibility in training their employees. The regulation requires in-depth knowledge of how to use AI and an understanding of both the opportunities and risks of these technologies. The new short course is intended to provide employers and employees with the necessary information to use AI effectively and in accordance with the law. The next diploma course begins on May 2, 2025 and costs 3,800 euros; the short course will be offered on May 5, 2025 at a price of 220 euros. According to Springer, it is crucial to comprehensively promote skills in the field of AI in order to meet the challenges of digital change and ensure the competitiveness of companies.
