New PR manager at Ikea Austria: Christina Strauss takes responsibility

The Carinthian Christina Strauss has taken over an important new position at Ikea and is now responsible for the company's PR area as a public relations leader. The 34-year-old looks back on a more than ten-year career in the public relations and event management sector and has been part of the IKEA Austria communication team since 2020. In her new role, she will look after and responsible for various important areas, including public relations, influencer relationships and the management of campaigns.

Born in Klagenfurt, Strauss studied journalism and communication science in Vienna and then gained experience with various agencies. She also brought her professional career to the world of sport, where she worked as a press spokeswoman and event manager at Beach Majors Company, a Red Bull-Joint Venture. Here she organized events for a worldwide-known beach volleyball tournament series. At Ikea she was most recently active as a communication business partner, where she mainly took care of the topics of diversity, inclusion & equity and leads a number of communication campaigns, including the collaboration with Vienna Design Week.

In her new function as a public relations leader at Ikea, Christina Strauss will cover extensive areas of responsibility. "I want to bring the creativity of Ikea even more in all our communication activities, starting with powerful press work and inspiring 'out of the box' campaigns," she said. Catharina Fendt, the Chief Communication Officer at Ikea Austria, welcomed Strauss in her new role. She emphasized the importance of combining press work, influencer strategies and campaign management in one position and pointed out that this played a major role in brand positioning and in the reputation management of IKEA in Austria. Fendt emphasized that Strauss is an experienced expert who is passionate about the values ​​that Ikea embodies.
