Carinthian Lyric Prize 2024: Michael Tschida receives the highest award
The Carinthian cultural journalist Michael Tschida recently received an important award: the 17th Carinthian Lyric Award. This honor will be given to him for his outstanding lyrical works, and he can look forward to a prize money of 5,000 euros and a glass trophy that will be presented in the Klagenfurt town house on November 28. The competition for this price is highly regarded, with around 120 texts sent, from which the jury selected the talented journalists as the winner.
tschida reacted humorously to the news of his profit and said: "First I take a blood pressure lowerer and then a little joy." This remark gives an idea of how much this award means to him. Tschida, born in Villach in 1963, had already written poems in his youth, but took a longer break from the poetry before being inspired by the announcement of this competition to live out his creative side. Before that, he had already received a recognition award in 2020, which now enabled him to make the highest award.
other award winners
The allocation of the Carinthian Lyric Award is not only enjoyed by a winner. Other talented writers were also awarded. Verena Schumanski, who lives in Vienna and originally comes from Carinthia, secured second place and received 1,500 euros. Third place went to Stefan Feinig from Feistritz, who received a price of 800 euros.
