Anniversary beer for Villachers: Cheers to 70 years of carnival!
With the start of the carnival in Villach, a special anniversary was celebrated: the 70th anniversary of the Villach carnival. For this occasion, a special “JubiLEIumsbier” was created, which the Guild of Carnival Friends and the Brau Union Austria brewed together. Jennifer and Karl Glanznig from the carnival guild as well as the regional sales director Oliver Plieschnig were significantly involved in the production of the beer. Plieschnig explained: “We have come up with something special to celebrate the anniversary.” This shows the close connection between beer and the tradition of carnival in the region.
On November 11th, just in time for the traditional festival, 1,111 pints of the anniversary beer were distributed to the celebrating fools and fools in the center of Villach. At 11:11 a.m., the symbolic time for the start of the carnival, the first samples of the new beer were given. According to the description of beer master Lukas Scharf, the drink offers a pleasant caramel aroma and has a “drinkable character” that appeals to the tastes of beer lovers.
A beer for the carnival people
The popular brewery in Villach will offer the anniversary beer in a handy 0.33 liter disposable bottle during the carnival season. Using special malts and carefully selected aromatic hops, the beer was designed to ideally match the festive atmosphere of the carnival. “We are therefore particularly pleased that we can offer the people of Villach something unique to celebrate,” emphasized Karl Glanznig, referring to the tradition of celebrating together in his city.
The event attracted numerous citizens who welcomed the beer campaign with enthusiasm and showed their anticipation of the crazy days. It's not just a new beer, but a symbol of cohesion and joy in a city where carnival is firmly rooted. The combination of tasty beer and a boozy atmosphere elevates the festivities even further.
Master brewer Lukas Scharf and his team were also able to demonstrate their passion for the art of craft brewing when brewing the beer. “Our goal was to create a beer that appealed to both casual beer drinkers and true beer lovers,” Scharf explained. The reactions to the anniversary beer were consistently positive, and many participants expressed their enthusiasm about the unique taste experience.
With this special beer, Villach not only celebrated the tradition of carnival, but also honored the local brewing culture. This combination of brewing crafts and regional customs shows once again how important such festive occasions are for the community. The anniversary beer will certainly become an integral part of the festive activities in Villach, just as the city wants it to be.
