A new custom in Wernberg: the first Krampus run of the Red Devils
The Red Devils Wernberg are ready to get their first own cramp. Preparations have already started in Wernberg and the anticipation in the club is clearly noticeable. Marco Kaufmann, the chairman and founder of the association, and secretary Katharina Kaufmann gave us an exciting insight into the activities of the team.
The association currently consists of 16 members, including ten active runners, five watchers and a photographer. Since its foundation in 2015, the group had taken a break from 2019 to 2022 because Marco and Katharina received offspring in their family. Now you are looking at the upcoming tasks.
The first Krampus run
The planned Krampus run will take place on December 8, 2024 from 4 p.m. The event will begin with Nikolaus, which will be handed out small sacks for the children, followed by the Krampus groups. "We prepared ourselves very well and selected suitable, reliable groups that take the custom seriously and deal with it with respect," said Katharina.
The selection of the Krampus groups is particularly important for the Red Devils Wernberg because they want to make sure that both the tradition and the safety of visitors are preserved. The preparations are currently in full swing - sponsors were found, meals were organized and even a small raffle.
A look at the tradition
What the Red Devils Wernberg particularly distinguishes is the combination of younger and older members who together hold up the values of traditional customs. "We particularly value to illustrate the differences between Krampus and Percht, and want our participants not only to be afraid, but also understand the meaning of the figure," explains Marco. Your Krampus masks are handmade and come from Sascha Pozewaunig.
The team is particularly important to the team to impart customs to the youngest viewers. "We want the children to understand who is really under the mask. So we kneel down and talk to them to take the fear and bring the tradition closer," explained Katharina. In a kindergarten, too, the club will have an appearance to bring the little ones the customs closer to the little one.
The Red Devils show how important it is to preserve the roots of customs and at the same time establish a connection to the young generations. "We look forward to the challenges of our first event and are convinced that we will take a great run," concluded Maria Kaufmann. For more information about this exciting event and further developments, it remains exciting what the Red Devils Wernberg will present until December 8th.
