Creative water worlds: Photo competition inspires youth in Spittal

The city of Spittal an der Drau has shown how creative young talents can be with an exciting photo competition for children and young people on the topic of “water”. The event was aimed at participants aged 0 to 21 who submitted their water-related artwork. A total of 33 entries were submitted and exhibited in the pretty Parkschlössl, where visitors had the opportunity to rate their favorite pictures and award points.

In the audience rating, Kerstin Meissnitzer took first place, followed by Matthias Walter and Jasmin Feistritzer. This award from the audience shows how well the works were received by visitors. There was also a special jury evaluation by the respected professional photographer Samuel Strauss, which led to an exciting competition with additional prizes. Here Raquel Paragas was chosen as the winner, while Silvia Wertl and Kerstin Meissnitzer took the other places.

Award ceremony with special honors

The award ceremony took place in a celebratory atmosphere, led by Vice Mayor Angelika Hinteregger. Together with Franziska Weineiß from KLAR! Nockregion and city councilor Almut Smoliner presented the prizes, which were generously donated by local companies, including Nagl and Trek Bikes as well as the Sittlinger lido.

A unique highlight of the event were the certificates in the form of wooden water drops, which were produced in a creative collaboration led by Sonja Trunk from FAB Training Fit. These original awards were a nice souvenir for all winners and show that the city not only places emphasis on artistic achievement, but also on craftsmanship.

The Environmental Department would like to thank everyone who took part in this competition and is optimistic about offering another edition of the competition next year. The creative approach to the topic of water not only promotes awareness of environmental issues, but also offers a platform for young people to develop their talents. The entire event not only celebrated the young artists, but also helped raise awareness in the community about the importance of water and sustainability.
