Lorena Plankensteiner: Austrian student champion in slalom!

In an impressive performance, Lorena Plankensteiner, the talented ski athlete from the Schiclub Lienz, won the gold medal at the Austrian championships in slalom. These championships took place last week in Hochkrimml in the Salzburg Oberpinzgau and attracted over 140 girls and boys from eight federal states. On the last two competition days there were challenging snow conditions that demanded additional skills to the young racers, such as dolomitenstadt.at reported.

On the first day, Lorena already showed her skills in the Super-G and reached third place in her age group (S15), which also brought her a good position in the overall ranking. Also on the second day of the competition, she repeated this strong performance with another third place in the S15 classification. The highlight, however, was the slalom, Loras special discipline. After a strong first round, she asserted herself in the second round with the best term and grabbed the title of the Austrian student in slalom after overtaking the leading student from Carinthia.

skiing in the World Cup context

The successes of Lorena are not only local highlights, they are also in the context of an exciting winter sport. The current Ski Alpin World Cup is in full swing, with athletes such as Marco Odermatt and Federica Brignone, which are leading overall. These championships show how important the promotion of young talent is to get talents like Lorena on the way to the top of the world. The overall ranking in skiing is currently very competitive, whereby the best athletes have to constantly develop their skills in order to win the coveted crystal balls, as Skigebiete-test.at reports.
