New drinking water location on Lake Wörthersee: collection made easy!

From October 12, 2024, there will be a new solution for water supply to citizens in Klagenfurt. Another drinking water distribution point will be opened on the south side of the Wörthersee Stadium. This is an important step in meeting the needs of the population, as around 70,000 residents already have access to clean water.

The additional location will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. This is intended to ensure that citizens who do not yet have released water can be supplied quickly and efficiently. The previous distribution point at the trade fair car park will be relocated to the inner courtyard of Stadtwerke Klagenfurt AG at St. Veiter Straße 31. This change is made because the trade fair parking lot is needed for the construction of the Ursulamarkt. This means that the distribution at the trade fair car park ends today.

Provision for socially needy citizens

Particular attention is paid to socially needy people who live in areas that have not yet been released. A separate hotline has been set up for these groups where water orders can be received. The water is then delivered directly to the affected people. The Social Affairs Department hotline can be reached on 0463 537 3755.

The health authorities have maintained previous recommendations: in the parts of the city that have not yet been released, citizens should boil water for around three minutes before drinking. This procedure is intended to ensure that the water is safe for health. Tap water can be used safely for other everyday applications such as showering or brushing your teeth.

Important information about the new water distribution point

The new distribution points at the Wörthersee Stadium and at the municipal utilities ensure that PET bottles and water canisters are provided. The opening hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. allow citizens to collect drinking water flexibly. The city and municipal utilities have provided extensive information on their websites to inform citizens about the current situation and water supply options. Further details can be found on the websites www. Klagenfurt.at/trinkwasser and www.stw.at/trinkwasser be found.
