Advent magic at the Lendhafen: Christmas market with sheep and culture

The anticipation for the festive season is growing, because on November 28th the Lendhafen again opens its goals for the popular Christmas market "Hafenknistern". This market, which was successfully launched last year, promises a magical ambience with numerous attractions for young and old again this year.

In the next four Advent weekends, which are separated from each other from Thursday to Sunday, visitors can enjoy the Christmas mood at the harbor. "The Christmas market is to be a supplement to the Christmas market on the new square and thus expand the entire advent offer in Klagenfurt," explains Michael Pontasch, Managing Director of the Hafenstadt and the organizer. The idea behind this year's market is to continue to live the Lendhafen with a variety of activities and thus promote the city's cultural life. Full support receives the project from personalities such as Mayor Christian Scheider and other high -ranking city representatives.

expanded offers and new locations

There are some exciting innovations for visitors this year. In addition to the traditional stalls at the port, the forecourt of the Evangelical Johanneskirche and the park in front of the port city are also included in the events. This enables wider use of land with handicrafts, culinary delights and even sheep that underline the Christmas atmosphere. "We are creating a small Advent world on different levels this year," says Pontasch. With more than 50 exhibitors, an extensive range is offered that includes handmade jewelry, stylish decorations, fashion, cosmetics and floral arrangements. Gourmeters can look forward to regional and international specialties, including French pastries, Christmas bakeries, fish specialties from Lake Wörthersee and Lamb meat from the local Shoaf farmer.

an active experience for the whole family

A special highlight is the Evangelical Church, which acts as an additional venue. A number of lectures, atmospheric workshops and a concert with classic sounds are planned here. This year the focus is on interactive experiences for visitors to all ages. Workshops on essential oils and incense, herbal lectures as well as activities such as Advent wreath bandages and wine tastings invite you to participate. Musical entertainment is also provided: jazz, gospel and classic concerts will delight the audience. Traditionally, artisans can exercise their craft in front of the visitor's eyes, which gives the market an authentic character. In addition, a colorful children's program is offered that includes Christmas stories, workshops, cinema performances for children and interludes from Clown "Giggo".

The complete program as well as further information on "Hafenknistern" are available on the website www.hafenknistern.at . The opening times are from Thursday to Sunday during the four Advent weekends from Thursday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
