European friendship on wheels: Rally to Zagreb inspires in Klagenfurt!
On May 30, 2025, around 50 vehicles and drivers from various European countries gathered in Klagenfurt, including Poland, Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Austria. The occasion was the club's fifth rally Wheels for Europe, whose destination this year is Zagreb. The event celebrates mobility and stands for exchange between nations.
The participating vehicles include 15 vintage cars, 15 motorcycles and 20 electric cars. The combination of traditional and modern mobility shows how the association combines diverse forms of mobility and at the same time sets an example for cohesion and openness. City councilor DI Constance Mochar welcomed the participants and thanked the association for their great commitment.
A sign for the future
The event not only has a festive character, but is also intended to promote European values such as interculturality and friendship. Click Carinthia reports that each stage of the rally is a statement against exclusion and national isolation. “Wheels for Europe” was founded in 2019 and has set itself the goal of uniting different forms of mobility and strengthening exchanges between cities and regions through trips.
The motto of the rally is “Mobility connects” and is an excellent example of partnership in action. It promotes contact not only between participants, but also between European countries, which is particularly important in times of national trends.
Personalities and awards
A special commitment was also recognized during the event. Interior Minister Michael Ebling awarded Kay-Uwe Schreiber the Medal of Merit of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate for his outstanding commitment to architecture and urban planning. Schreiber, who is a founding member of the association, has been involved in the preservation of regional customs and the preservation of local cultural heritage since 2004.
He describes himself as an advocate for a united and peaceful Europe and has contributed to the success of the rally and many other cultural initiatives. This connection between mobility and culture also shows the social relevance of the classic car and motorcycle scene, which has become increasingly popular in recent years.
The popularity of classic cars and youngtimers is not only due to the nostalgia of the older generation. Younger people are also showing more interest in classic vehicles. The Classic car calendar 2025 shows numerous events in Germany and Europe that reflect the growing interest. With a varied program, classic car events will once again captivate many enthusiasts this year.
The 5th rally to Zagreb is not only another highlight in the event calendar, but also symbolizes the desire to communicate and work together across borders.
