Discovery tour in the Malta Valley: tell us about the mysterious cultural heritage!

An exciting literary project will be published on December 6th: Ulrike Mengeù and Reinhard Kager present their new book about the Malta Valley, known as the “Valley of Falling Waters”. But the fascination of the Malta Valley goes far beyond its spectacular waterfalls. The book entitled “Faszination Maltatal” highlights stories, names and cultural assets from the region that often remain undiscovered. “The old story, which is often forgotten, is worth telling,” said the author MyDistrict. The book combines place name research, legends and archaeological finds and shows impressive discoveries such as a Bronze Age spearhead and Roman coins.

Reinhard Kager's photographs capture the untouched nature of the Malta Valley. He emphasizes the importance of photography as a kind of magical snapshot. “Young people love home – that is the sentence that characterizes our book,” adds the photographer, who has captured the splendor of the landscape in Carinthia for over 40 years. The first volume, published just in time for Christmas, is available at local tourist offices and bookstores. A second volume will follow in spring 2025 and will cover the documented eras from the Middle Ages to modern times.

Book review: “Waiting for Snow”

The author Karoline Menge has already thrilled readers with her debut “Waiting for Snow”. This book tells the gripping story of two siblings who have to survive in an increasingly empty village after their mother abandons them. The eerie atmosphere and tension that develops while reading captivates readers and makes them think about the secrets of the village, as on LovelyBooks is reported. The author's powerful language also makes it impossible to put the book down. The mix of fairy tales and mysteries keeps readers hooked until the last page as they wonder what happened to the missing villagers.
