Asphalt fraud in the Görtschitztal: master carpenter raises the alarm!

An incident in Carinthia caused excitement when carpenter Bernhard Kamber described a strange encounter with an asphalt work team. According to the information from ORF Carinthia A man with a French accent in Kamber’s workshop appeared on Tuesday and offered to sell remaining asphalt for only 30 euros per square meter. At first Kamber thought that he could get to know a new carpenter. On Thursday, however, a British man appeared with Hungarian and Romanian workers who had traveled with a British truck. This time Kamber was suspicious because his son met with reports on asphalt fraudulent machinations that corresponded exactly to this stitch.

KAMBER immediately informed the police and was able to stop their activities immediately when the workers arrived. The supposed polier fled in a car, but was quickly picked up. The team's identity was checked, and despite the frustrating situation, the men were released because no fraud could be proven. Kamber warned that these fraudsters lay inferior asphalt that will soon be damaged, and found that horrific invoices are often issued from far away.

tips for avoiding fraud

The Chamber of Commerce advises caution and points out that you should definitely search for information about the company before being assigned. A serious company would not only relocate asphalt, but also carry out the necessary substructure work and create a detailed cost estimate. These precautionary measures are crucial to avoid similar incidents that are documented in other asphalt companies in the country like Asphalt.de
